As noted in Arts Briefly in The New York Times, Audience Research & Analysis conducted qualitative and quantitative research in 2016 to provide guidance for future planning of this much-loved New York film institution. Starting with personal interviews to understand customers’ basic relationship with the theater, we followed with an in-audience survey (sample of 800) to obtain a demographic profile of current attendees, understand their film-going interests and explore ways to improve their experience. We rounded out the study with an online survey that garnered responses from over 3,000 members and single-ticket buyers as well as their virtual audience.
Film Forum worked with ARA to survey its audience on their experience coming to the theater. The audience feedback on the state of the seating and sightlines helped inform Film Forum’s plans for the renovation of its facility.
