As reported in local media, the ARA survey of all couples getting married after the passage of the same-sex marriage act provided data to calculate that, after one year, the new law resulted in an economic boom of $259 million for the city’s tourism industry and $16 imillion n city revenues. The study was conducted for NYC & Company, New York City’s official tourism agency. The followup online survey found that 235,900 hotel room nights were booked for weddings in New York, and 201,600 guests traveled from outside New York to attend same-sex marriage.
